ποΈ Pine Canyon Development Officially Approved
After decades of planning, Pine Canyon Ranch is moving forward.
Castle Rock Town Council officially annexed the land β previously unincorporated Douglas County β and approved zoning and a development plan for hundreds of homes. The land spans both sides of I-25 and was once a family cattle ranch.
This decision has stirred up concern about traffic and town infrastructure, but public comment was notably absent from this weekβs meeting. The project manager, Kurt Walker, called it βa 20-year journeyβ finally coming to a close.
βΉοΈ New Rec Center Moving Forward
Town Council also gave initial approval to finance a new recreation center using up to $75.5 million in Certificates of Participation (COPs). The rec center will be part of the Brickyard master-planned community near Plum Creek Parkway.
The Town struck a deal with developer CD-Acme LLC, which will donate land for the project. If all goes smoothly, construction could begin in August, with the 145,000+ square-foot facility opening by 2027.
π Police Drones to Respond to Emergencies
The Castle Rock Police Department is about to launch a cutting-edge Drones as First Responders program, making us one of the first municipalities in Colorado to do so.
With up to $200,000/year approved for tech from Flock Safety, the drones will provide live video feeds to dispatchers and officers, improving emergency response, search capabilities (even at night), and overall safety.
π‘ More Homes Coming to Founders Vista
Council approved plans for 511 new residential units at the proposed Founders Vista development β 297 single-family homes and 214 paired homes β plus nearly 100 acres of open space. The community will be located west of Ridge Road, just south of Fifth Street.
ποΈ Heroes Hall Veterans Center Approved
Council also gave the green light for the Heroes Hall veterans center at the Douglas County Fairgrounds β a meaningful step for honoring those whoβve served.
